BB&T Expands Northeast Corporate Banking Team

BB&T Capital Markets announced its new corporate banking team based in New York City. Lou Serio, John Macken and Tim Wiegand represent a highly talented team with a combined 47 years of experience. This team will focus on developing new relationships and providing strategic financial advice to corporate and institutional clients in the Northeast.

Serio, who has more than 25 years banking and relationship management experience, acts as a strategic financial partner and client advocate, providing insight to clients on a broad range of financial products and services. He has served as a relationship manager for public and private companies in large corporate markets based in the Northeast and nationwide.

Macken has 14 years of corporate banking experience, managing many multinational, U.S.-based Fortune 1000 clients. He has served as a relationship manager for public and private companies in middle market and large corporate markets in various industries, most recently in the industrial and auto sectors. Formally credit trained, Macken has led and structured syndicated and bilateral transactions for U.S. corporates.

Wiegand comes to BB&T Capital Markets with eight years of corporate banking experience serving public and private firms in the Northeast. He has provided capital markets and banking solutions to large corporations with a diversified client base, focusing on consumer goods, retail and industrial companies.

“Hiring these tenured corporate bankers is the next step in our national growth strategy,” said BB&T chairman and CEO Kelly King. “The combination of BB&T’s relationship-based approach and lending strength with this team’s wealth of regional knowledge will resonate solidly with clients in the Northeast.”

“We are deeply committed to growing our business in the Northeast and meeting the needs of corporate clients,” said Rufus Yates, president and CEO of BB&T Securities and BB&T Capital Markets manager. “These new additions will bolster our existing BB&T Capital Markets offices in New York and Boston that provide research, sales and trading and investment banking services.”
