Shaina Wamsley London joined Choate, Hall & Stewart in 2014 after earning her law degree from Harvard. Over the past decade, she has become a trusted advisor to banks, financial institutions and corporate borrowers, structuring financing solutions tailored to specific capital needs. Her expertise includes asset-based and cash flow lending, first and second lien financings, unitranche structures and unsecured financings. She has represented lenders financing businesses in retail, food manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, software, technology and sports industries.
As co-chair of the Finance & Restructuring Group, London collaborates with colleagues on complex legal matters and leads internal training and knowledge management programs. She received Choate’s “Feedback All Star” award for her mentorship, which she describes as one of the most rewarding aspects of her role. She co-led the development of a proprietary database tracking key transaction terms, helping Choate analyze market trends and offer data-driven insights to clients.
While much of her work has occurred in a strong economy, London has proactively sought insights from seasoned specialty finance professionals experienced in downturns and restructurings. Their perspectives have shaped her understanding of market cycles and prepared her to advise clients through economic uncertainty.
In today’s shifting financial landscape, London has identified liability management transactions as a key focus. As borrowers look to manage debt and boost liquidity, and lenders prioritize asset protection, she stays informed by monitoring market developments and collaborating with industry leaders. She continues to lead training programs to ensure her team navigates these complexities effectively.
“My advice for young professionals aspiring to leadership is to model the behaviors and work ethic of those in roles you want to attain,” London says.
