Jim Davidson, president and founder of Avant Advisory Group, brings nearly 30 years of leadership in financial advisory, turnaround management, mergers & acquisitions, and forensic consulting. His foundation in public accounting and deep C-suite experience across multiple industries has shaped his career into one defined by resilience, integrity and impact.
“My leadership journey was shaped early on by my decade spent with PricewaterhouseCoopers,” Davidson says. “There, I developed core expertise in M&A advisory, financial restructuring and operational turnarounds — skills I would later apply as a C-level executive in distressed company environments.”
Avant Advisory Group, which Davidson founded, is known for its hands-on approach to operational turnarounds, financial restructurings, fraud investigations and M&A advisory for middle-market companies, private equity firms, and financial institutions. “Founding Avant has been the most defining moment of my professional life,” he says. “We’ve helped hundreds of clients recover from near-collapse, and in some cases, prevented disastrous outcomes.”
Davidson holds over 10 professional certifications, including CTP, CIRA, CPA, and CM&AA , and has served in leadership, including board member, roles for professional organizations such as the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Private Directors Association.
When advising clients in distress, Davidson says he never shies away from hard truths. “I tell clients what they need to hear, not just what they want to hear.” Or, in advising M&A clients, I’ve at certain instances had to say, “The best deal may be the one you walk away from.”
Guided by faith-based principles and a client-first mindset, Davidson sees his legacy as one of service and stewardship. “I want to be remembered for doing the right thing, helping save businesses, jobs, and protecting value. Integrity has to come before everything else.”
Looking ahead, Davidson believes emerging technologies will reshape specialty finance. Still, he emphasizes that ethics remain timeless: “No matter the tools, leaders must act with honor, humility, and a commitment to constant personal growth.”
