Deputy Chair, Finance
Loeb & Loeb
By Rita E. Garwood

Anthony Pirraglia, deputy chair of the Finance Department at Loeb & Loeb, has built a reputation as a trusted advisor in specialty finance by combining technical skill with a focus on client relationships and practical solutions.

“I’ve always believed that understanding what matters most to a client — and being able to explain legal nuances clearly — sets great lawyers apart,” Pirraglia says.

His legal career began at a boutique firm in New York, where he quickly gained exposure to small-cap M&A and litigation. Drawn to transactional work, he later moved to a big law firm, focusing on banking and finance, before joining Loeb & Loeb. There, under strong mentorship, he broadened his practice to include complex credit facilities such as margin loans, art-backed lines of credit and private placements.

Pirraglia is especially active in fund finance, advising on subscription lines, management fee facilities and co-investment loan programs. He has written extensively on finance topics and is a Fellow of the American College of Investment Counsel and a member of the U.S. Advisory Committee of the Fund Finance Association.

He approaches dealmaking with a steady hand, even when transactions hit turbulence. “No matter how much you prepare, unexpected issues come up,” he says. “The key is staying flexible and communicating clearly to find the right path forward.”

Pirraglia emphasizes mentorship and staying ahead of market trends. “Technology and private credit are reshaping dealmaking,” he says. “We need to stay adaptable and strategic.”

He believes the best dealmakers in specialty finance are not only technically sound but also approachable and genuinely invested: “Clients feel it when you care.”

For aspiring rainmakers, Pirraglia offers this advice: “Earn trust. Publish. Speak. Stay present. A steady presence builds real relationships — and business follows.”

“We’re not just facilitators,” he says. “We’re partners in the process.”
