Piper Jaffray named CEO, Chad Abraham, chairman of the board of directors, effective at the annual meeting of shareholders on May 17, 2019. Andrew Duff, chairman of the board, will retire at the meeting, having served 16 years as chairman.

Phil Soran will continue as the board’s lead independent director.

“The board has the utmost confidence in Chad’s ability to create long-term value, balancing both growth and governance, for the benefit our shareholders, employees, and clients,” said Soran. “The board would like to thank Andrew for his outstanding and dedicated years of service to Piper Jaffray and the board.”

“I am honored to have served on the board with my fellow directors these many years, and for the opportunity to work alongside so many talented employees throughout my career at Piper Jaffray,” said Duff. “I look forward to watching the company’s continued success under Chad’s leadership.”

Abraham began his career at Piper Jaffray in 1991 as an investment banking analyst. He was named CEO in January 2018. Prior to that, he was the global co-head of investment banking and capital markets since 2010.

“I am honored to be named chairman of Piper Jaffray Companies, and would like to thank the board for this opportunity, and in particular, Andrew, who has provided invaluable guidance over the past year,” said Abraham. “I look forward to building on all of the success and growth we have achieved, and working with my fellow directors in the years ahead.”
