Katten Adds England to Commercial Finance Practice in Dallas

Commercial transaction attorney Erin England joined Katten as a partner in the commercial finance practice in Dallas.

“Erin is joining a premier team of attorneys who represent creditors and debtors in hundreds of finance transactions each year,” Michael A. Jacobson, national head of Katten’s commercial finance practice, said. “Her broad experience representing some of the world’s largest organizations and her ability to handle complex financial transactions will be an asset to our nationally recognized practice.”

England represents borrowers and lenders, including banks and alternative lending institutions, in structuring and negotiating domestic and international commercial transactions. She also has real estate finance experience, including her representation of borrowers and lenders in construction loans and other real-estate secured loans involving property uses such as raw land acquisition, industrial properties, hotels, and office and retail space.

In addition, England represents private equity funds in connection with the acquisition of companies across a range of industries, with deals typically involving complex intercreditor relationships requiring subordinated and mezzanine financing arrangements.

“In the last two years, we’ve added leading attorneys like Erin in key growth areas such as commercial finance,” Mark S. Solomon, managing partner of Katten’s Dallas office, said. “As an active member of several organizations committed to the hiring, retention and promotion of diverse lawyers, Erin also shares in Katten’s deep commitment to diversity and inclusion, which is a fundamental part of the culture in our Dallas office.”

England was recently named to D Magazine’s “Best Lawyers in Dallas” list for the third consecutive year, and the “Best Lawyers Under 40” list for 2020, which honors the top lawyers in Dallas, as chosen by industry peers. She joined Katten Dallas partners Lisa Atlas Genecov, Charles R. Gibbs, P. Gregory Hidalgo, Barrett R. Howell, Brandon N. McCarthy, Cheryl Camin Murray, Solomon and Kenya S. Woodruff on the “Best Lawyers” list.

Katten opened its Dallas location with seven partners in 2018. The office has since grown to more than 40 attorneys servicing clients in a variety of areas, including finance, private equity, M&A, health care, white collar and criminal defense, insolvency and restructuring, real estate, corporate and litigation. The firm recently unveiled new space for the office in the PwC Tower at Park District, a 20-story office tower located in the heart of Dallas’ Uptown neighborhood near Klyde Warren Park.
