Woodforest Hires Florida Regional President, Plans to Hire 25 Bankers


Woodforest National Bank named Willy Gomez regional president of Commercial Banking for the Florida market. Gomez brings 35 years of Florida banking experience to Woodforest with 30 years in management and extensive experience in the middle market. Previously with HSBC, Gomez managed its middle market in the South including Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and Florida.

Gomez will spearhead the opening of Woodforest’s new Commercial Banking offices in Miami and Tampa with plans to hire approximately 25 bankers for full time positions as relationship managers, portfolio managers, treasury managers and an assistant. The economic impact to the state of Florida from this employment should exceed $4 million annually.
