Voya Investment Management Adds SVPs for Bank Advisory Program

byPhil Neuffer
March 26, 2020
in People

Randy Cameron and Dave Wood joined Voya Investment Management as senior vice presidents to co-head the firm’s regional and community bank advisory program. Cameron and Wood will be based in Salt Lake City and report to Charlie Shaffer, head of distribution for Voya Investment Management.

In this newly created role, Cameron and Wood will work with regional and community banks to advise them on implementing customized portfolios of diversifying credits, including senior secured, commercial and industrial loans.

Cameron and Wood have a combined 60 years of financial service experience. Prior to joining Voya, they founded Financial Institution Growth, a registered investment adviser specializing in working directly with select commercial banks to introduce, analyze, plan and approve loan programs.

The investment program will be managed by Robert Wilson, senior vice president, in his role as head of the regional and community bank senior loan program. Wilson is a former senior commercial banker, OCC bank regulator and 22-year member of Voya’s senior loan team. The senior loan team manages more than $23 billion in AUM across its 30-person team in Scottsdale, AZ.

Through education and mentoring, banks enrolled in the program will be guided through a thorough implementation process. Additionally, each bank receives ongoing, direct support in the development and ongoing management of compliant portfolios that offer diversification, value recognition and loss avoidance as their core objectives.

“While community and small regional banks have historically excelled at small business underwriting and relationship management, Voya’s regional and community bank advisory program recognizes that the syndicated loan market demands a broader industry knowledge and timely action,” Shaffer said. “Clients benefit from Voya’s unique market leadership, experience, relationships, credit risk management, training and sourcing capabilities while effectively keeping independent research and decision-making within their walls, thus satisfying regulatory requirements.”

Voya Investment Management is the asset management business of Voya Financial and, as of December 31, 2020, managed more than $223 billion for affiliated and external institutions as well as individual investors.
