Piper Jaffray has hired Jason Harkness as a managing director in its Technology Investment banking group. He will work with Michael Hirsch as co-head of the Internet and Digital Media sectors based in the firm’s San Francisco office.

Harkness joined Piper Jaffray from Raymond James, where he was a managing director and head of Internet and Digital Media Investment Banking. Previously, he spent over seven years at Pinnacle Ventures, where he helped lead the firm’s investments in the internet and digital media space, including Gilt Groupe Holding (acquired by Hudson’s Bay) and Zipcar (acquired by Avis Budget Group), among other transactions.

“As we experience new levels of growth and momentum, our platform is increasingly attractive for banking talent across our core verticals,” said Chad Abraham, global co-head of investment banking and capital markets for Piper Jaffray. “Jason is an impressive addition who will add immediate value within our technology franchise. We are pleased to have him on-board.”
