Piper Jaffray hired Kalan MacGinley and Michael Perry as managing directors in its financial institutions investment banking group.

MacGinley is based in the firm’s San Francisco office, and Perry is based in New York.

“Kalan and Michael will be integral contributors as we further expand our FIG effort and investment banking franchise as a whole,” says Chad Abraham, global co-head of Piper Jaffray Investment Banking and Capital Markets. “We look forward to leveraging their leadership in the space and continuing the momentum we’ve had to date.”

MacGinley has more than 15 years’ experience as a financial institutions investment banker focusing on both depositories and diversified financial services companies. Most recently, MacGinley managed the western U.S. financial services sector at Macquarie Capital covering international and western U.S. financial services companies where, prior to the Macquarie acquisition, he established the Fox-Pitt Kelton practice. Previously, he was a director at RBC Capital Markets where he played a key role in building the company’s financial institutions group investment banking practice.

Perry has more than 20 years’ experience as a financial institutions investment banker focused on depositories. He has worked across the bulge bracket and boutique spectrum serving at firms such as Morgan Stanley, Bear Stearns, Merrill Lynch and Sterne Agee. Perry will lead the financial institutions investment banking practice for Piper Jaffray in the southeastern portion of the U.S.
