“The Last Word,” a feature film produced by Myriad Pictures starring Shirley MacLaine and financed by Pacific Mercantile Bank, will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2017.

“Working with the bankers at Pacific Mercantile Bank is always a major benefit when putting together the financing for a project,” said Kevin Forester of Myriad Pictures. “They were an invaluable partner in helping us get ‘The Last Word’ into production.”

“It’s always rewarding to provide financing solutions for a client whose film receives such recognition,” said Adrian Ward, SVP, Pacific Mercantile Bank Entertainment Industries Division (EID). “We are thrilled the film has been invited to Sundance and look forward to the commercial release in March.”

Since 2009, Pacific Mercantile Bank’s EID has extended more than $250 million in financing to independent film and television production companies.

MacLaine stars as a controlling retired businesswoman who wishes to write her own obituary before she dies. She enlists the help of a young journalist played by Amanda Seyfried who ends up searching for the truth, only to be surprised by their burgeoning friendship.
