Middle market investment bank Harris Williams has hired Daniel Wang as a managing director to lead the firm’s efforts in Asia.

Wang will play an integral role in cross-border deal execution with strategic and financial Asian buyers and will work collaboratively with the firm’s 10 industry groups. He will also work with the Somerley Group, a boutique M&A advisory services firm with offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong with which Harris Williams has an exclusive relationship.

Wang began his investment banking career in 2001 in New York. He has extensive cross-border M&A experience having been based in New York, London and Hong Kong. Prior to joining Harris Williams, Wang led Citi’s Asia Pacific consumer and retail investment banking business in Hong Kong with a significant focus on sourcing and executing U.S./Asia and Europe/Asia transactions. Throughout his career, he has advised clients from a number of different countries on sales and acquisitions including China Resources and Bright Food Group, Lotte, KKR, Heineken and Matrix Laboratories.

“We are thrilled to have Daniel join the firm. He brings experience and insight into the Asian markets and will be an important resource for our clients on global transactions across industries,” said Ned Valentine, executive managing director at Harris Williams. “We continue to invest in top level talent to best serve the needs of our clients and Daniel will be a valuable member of our senior leadership team.”
