Grant Thornton has named David Platt office managing partner for its New England practice, which encompasses the firm’s Boston and Westborough, MA offices.

Platt will lead the firm’s New England practice and oversee marketplace growth and talent development.

Platt replaces Peter Resnick, who served as office managing partner for the past two years. Resnick will be assuming additional responsibilities in the firm’s national Forensics practice.

Kim O’Connor has been named partner-in-charge of the Westborough market, a role that was previously held by Platt.

“David, Peter and Kim have proved themselves as leaders at the firm, and we’re delighted that they are taking on these responsibilities in New England. We are confident that their experience will be an asset to those clients we serve in the Northeast,” said Frank Kurre, Grant Thornton’s Metro New York and New England managing partner.

Platt has more than 25 years of experience working with organizations on complex financial matters, including strategic planning, corporate board governance, profitability enhancements and merger and acquisition services. He has served clients in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, wholesale and distribution, and not-for-profit entities. Most recently, Platt served as the New England assistant managing partner.

Platt is a certified public accountant (CPA) in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, is a member of the Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts Societies of CPAs, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Resnick has worked with law firms, Fortune 500 companies, high-tech manufacturing and software companies, health care providers and insurers, and not-for-profit organizations in areas including forensic accounting, financial consulting, financial statement audits and fraud investigations.

Resnick is a CPA in Massachusetts, a certified fraud examiner and is certified in financial forensics.

O’Connor has nearly 30 years of experience serving a wide variety of commercial organizations. She has been the engagement lead and the relationship partner for many public and private companies, and has significant experience with mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and other complex financial matters.
