Citi appointed Matthew Brogdon and Bruce Cox co-heads of the firm’s Energy Acquisitions & Divestitures (A&D) Group.

As senior investment bankers in the Global Energy Group, Brogdon and Cox will provide A&D and M&A advisory and transaction execution services, as well as deliver broad-based market and strategic advice to oil and gas companies and financial sponsors.

Brogdon and Cox will also work closely with their partners in Citi’s Global Energy and Capital Markets Origination groups to provide clients with an array of additional advisory services, including capital raising, corporate lending and debt and equity issuance.

“Integration of A&D advisory services into our overall investment banking platform is crucial to Citi and our energy clients, and Matthew and Bruce bring a long track record of experience and success in this market,” said Stephen Trauber, global head of Energy in Citi’s Corporate and Investment Banking division. “The addition of their strong client relationships, energy expertise and wide-ranging advisory experience will allow Citi to grow its A&D business and provide synergies across all of our investment banking and capital market products.”

Brogdon joins Citi with more than 18 years of experience in energy and finance, most recently serving as COO of a private oil and gas company. Prior to that role, he focused on M&A in the corporate advisory practice of Evercore Partners. Brogdon has also held senior positions at Bank of Montreal.

Cox, a 36-year veteran of both the energy and finance sectors, joins Citi from Credit Suisse, where he was global head of Energy A&D.

Both Brogdon and Cox were partners at the oil and gas consulting firm of Netherland, Sewell & Associates, and began their careers as petroleum engineers with ExxonMobil.

They will report to Stephen Trauber and be based in Houston.
