BNY Mellon hired Piers Murray as chief operating officer of the Markets business, effective June 15, 2016. Based in New York, Murray will report to Michelle Neal, president of BNY Mellon Markets.

Murray will succeed Regina Meredith-Carpeni whose career spanned nearly four decades at BNY Mellon in numerous leadership roles, including founder of the Women’s Initiatives Network where she is currently co-chair.

Murray was recently global co-head of Listed Derivatives & Markets Clearing at Deutsche Bank. Previously, he was global head of OTC Derivatives Clearing & Derivatives Prime Brokerage at the bank. From 1986 to 2012, he held a variety of roles at JPMorgan Chase in credit portfolio, credit risk management and OTC interest rate clearing. From 1988 to 1999, he worked in the bank’s FX options business in London, Singapore and New York.

“Piers joins the BNY Mellon team with a successful track record in global markets products and solutions,” Neal said. “BNY Mellon Markets continues to be a significant growth segment for the bank, particularly as our clients look to navigate the changing regulatory and market landscape. Piers will be instrumental in helping to industrialize our platform and strengthen our core business. We are excited to have him join our team.”
