Larry Kanter, CPA/CFF, CFE joined B. Riley Financial as senior managing director with B. Riley Advisory Services, a provider of business advisory, appraisal and specialty financial consulting services. Kanter is based in Dallas and joined the firm’s national forensic accounting and litigation support practice.

Kanter has more than 35 years of experience advising clients in high profile and complex forensic accounting and fraud investigations matters. He has served major law firms and their clients including Fortune 100 companies and international businesses across a wide range of industries. Prior to forming his own firm in 2011, Kanter was a partner with PwC and EY and previously served as a managing director at Alvarez and Marsal where he founded and led A&M’s first forensic data analytics practice.

Kanter is known for his use of data analytics in his work as a testifying expert in complex litigation and fraud investigation matters. He has provided expert testimony in federal and state courts as well as to arbitration panels in multiple cities across the U.S. on complex matters involving generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), internal controls, damages quantification, fraud investigations and results of his forensic accounting investigations. He has worked on a number of high-stakes matters including an international investigation involving a number of Swiss banks.

Kanter is a CPA, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and holds a certificate in financial forensic from the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). In addition, he is a member of various committees for the Texas Society of CPAs including the business valuation, forensic and litigation services committee. He is also an adjunct professor at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business where he has taught a master’s level course in forensic accounting and financial statement fraud for more than 10 years.
