Alvarez & Marsal augmented its business transformation expertise with the hire of Matson Blocker as a Houston-based managing director in the Performance Improvement practice. Blocker focuses on IT strategic planning, global program management and operations improvement for downstream and chemicals organizations.

With three decades of energy sector experience, Blocker excels in developing and executing IT strategic plans and SAP-centric transformation programs. He has also led IT landscape optimization programs and executed new processes to improve operational performance in plant environments.

Prior to joining A&M, Blocker spent 27 years with consulting company Accenture in Houston, where he most recently served as a managing director. He led the development of the Maintenance and Reliability practice within Accenture and focused on the implementation of operational improvements across a number of oil and gas and chemical clients.

“With oil prices under significant pressure, energy companies are being forced to retool their operations to support profitability and performance,” said Mike Davidson, a managing director with Alvarez & Marsal and head of the firm’s Performance Improvement practice in the Southwestern U.S. “Matson’s background furthers our ability to serve our energy sector clients’ specific needs with strategies that help them to navigate current challenges and leverage opportunities for ongoing value creation.”
