Global business-advisory firm AlixPartners announced that Brian P. Major has joined as a managing director in the firm’s Enterprise Improvement unit. Major, who will be based in Chicago, joins AlixPartners from McKinsey & Co., and brings with him broad consulting experience, including deep expertise in consumer products, retail and operations.

Major’s significant hands-on experience extends across several consumer-facing industries, with a particularly impressive track record in the food and beverage sector. He has deep background in virtually all aspects of the consumer supply chain, from product development through procurement-and-supply management, and he has advised clients on a broad range of strategic issues. These issues include performance improvement on a global scale, turnaround and restructuring, and portfolio optimization.

Peter Fitzsimmons, AlixPartners’ president of the Americas, said, “We welcome Brian to the firm. As with many practitioners at AlixPartners, he has deep experience in operations, as well as deep expertise in consumer products, retail and other areas. We think our clients will find his background and skills to be a tremendous asset.”

Prior to joining McKinsey, Major was a vice president and partner in the operations practice of A.T. Kearney.
