Context Business Lending Adds Smith, Hornett and Griffin to Team

Context Business Lending hired Rebecca Smith, Sherrill Hornett and Veronica Griffin. Hornett will take on the role of director of portfolio management, while Smith will be an underwriter and Griffin will be a senior collateral analyst.

“Sherrill, Rebecca and Veronica each exemplify the integrity and innovative minds that are hallmarks of CBL’s culture both as a team and a brand,” Meredith L. Carter, CEO of Context Business Lending, said. “There’s a lot happening at CBL right now and it’s a very exciting and rewarding place to be.”

The additions of Smith, Hornett and Griffin support Context Business Lending’s growth, including the addition of nine new borrowers to its portfolio over the last few months.

“Adding these three hires to our team is an example of our commitment to building a unique organization with a continued dedication to changing the industry for the better,” Carter said.

Hornett joined Context Business Lending after more than 15 years with Wells Fargo Capital Finance and its predecessors. At Wells Fargo, she started in operations and left as a senior relationship manager.

Smith has decades of experience in non-bank ABL and previously worked at North Mill, Alostar, GE Capital and, most recently, Midcap Business Credit.

Griffin has experience from her time at Wells Fargo, where she spent more than 11 years.

Context Business Lending has added four new banks to its warehouse facility to support portfolio growth in 2021. In addition, ABF Journal recently named Carter one of the Top Women in Asset-Based Lending. Read her full profile here.
