CohnReznick, an advisory, assurance and tax firm in the United States, added two new principals to its valuation advisory services practice. Brad Hirsch will serve as the practice leader, and Anthony Doughty joins as a principal. Both Hirsch and Doughty are based in Chicago and have extensive experience involving financial, tax-related and asset-based valuations across the public and private sectors.

“The accurate valuation of a company and/or its assets plays an integral role in how our clients drive growth, attract capital, comply with financial reporting and regulatory requirements and navigate business challenges across all stages of the business life cycle, from sales to acquisitions to joint ventures to disputes to M&A and more,” Claudine Cohen, managing principal – Value360 at CohnReznick, said. “As we look ahead, we anticipate that Brad and Anthony’s substantial Fortune 500 valuation experience will be a major asset to current and prospective clients as they leverage our comprehensive suite of critical services including complex financial instruments (i.e., equity-based compensation grants, equity securities, fixed income securities and derivatives), real estate appraisals, trusts and estates, litigation, machinery and equipment and intangibles to drive value for their businesses. Bringing Brad and Anthony’s decades of collective valuation experience to CohnReznick is a strategic investment in our client service and practice leadership teams and significantly bolsters our breadth of capabilities and industry knowledge.”

Hirsch has more than two decades of valuation experience focused on valuing business enterprises and intangible assets for transactions across a variety of industries with a specialization in the industrial and consumer industries. Additional valuation experience includes mark-to-market valuations of illiquid private equity investments, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and leading integrated deal teams for multi-billion-dollar transactions. He has also led pricing analyses and gift and estate valuations for consumer, technology and industrial clients. As an industry thought leader, Hirsch frequently speaks on the topics of mergers and acquisitions and trends in accounting for business combinations.

Before joining CohnReznick, Hirsch was a principal for a Big Four firm’s economic and valuation services practice, where he led the U.S. valuation practice for the industrial manufacturing and aerospace and defense sectors. As a part of this role, Hirsch was the global lead partner for a strategic Fortune 50 aerospace and defense client. He earned an MBA in Finance from The University of Illinois Chicago, a BBA in accounting from Western Michigan University and is accredited in business valuation from the AICPA.

Doughty brings more than 25 years of experience valuing business enterprises, intangible assets and financial instruments. Doughty specializes in the valuation of complex financial instruments including options, warrants, debt, common and preferred securities, for financial reporting and tax purposes. His clients span multiple industries including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diversified industrials, automotive, consumer products, technology and alternative investments.

Before joining CohnReznick, Doughty was a managing director for a Big Four firm’s economic and valuation services practice and a key thought leader for the firm’s complex security and stock compensation teams. He earned a BS in finance, cum laude, from Northern Illinois University, is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Chicago.
