Alvarez & Marsal Taxand (A&M Taxand), an affiliate of leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), has appointed Adam Scheele, Evan Gamble, Kevin Lewis, Eric Renner, Matthew Roche in the U.S. and James Harris in London as managing directors. These hires, along with seven other recent senior joiners, represent the latest strategic phase of A&M Taxand’s 2022 double-digit growth and expanding expertise around the world.

“Our growth demonstrates our commitment to providing clients with the sound strategic leadership necessary for solving complex problems,” Ernie Perez, the global practice leader of A&M Taxand, said. “A&M’s integrated platform and freedom from audit conflicts furthers our ability to serve as tax advisors and to attract entrepreneurial, operational practitioners who can help clients maximize value.”

Scheele specializes in sales and use and indirect tax with extensive experience advising energy sector portfolio companies. Evans focuses on international tax issues and works with clients on cross-border transactions, international business structuring matters and U.S. international tax compliance and provision concerns. Roche brings nearly 20 years of experience in all aspects of modern software design, development and deployment related to digital tax services. His extensive experience spans from hands-on full-stack software engineering and architecting complex systems to growing and leading multiple teams and working directly with tax and finance stakeholders.

Lewis and Renner advise private equity (PE) firms and strategic corporate buyers on global transaction tax concerns, help solve for risks related to U.S. and multinational target companies and create value with the structuring of proposed investments. Both come with extensive leadership experience and will be key in delivering the growth strategy of global transaction tax team in key markets like Boston and Dallas.

Harris brings 20 years of experience in advising company boards on all aspects of executive remuneration strategy, design and implementation.

“As companies and organizations seek leaders to guide them through complexity and change, they need executive compensation plans that keep pace,” Marvin Rust, a managing director with Alvarez & Marsal Taxand U.K. and head of A&M Taxand Europe, said. “James’ deep knowledge of best practices for implementing effective executive renumeration programs, bolsters our offering to help clients drive change and mitigate against future risks.”

“Kevin and Eric joining the firm demonstrates our commitment to helping PE and corporate clients solve for complex tax issues, mitigate tax risks and identify value creation opportunities, globally and regionally,” Adam Benson, a managing director and U.S. leader of Alvarez & Marsal’s global transaction tax advisory practice, said. “Despite increasing market volatility, we are committed to the growth of our practice and see numerous client and talent opportunities in key markets like Boston and Dallas. Their collective knowledge and experience enhance our ability to support clients through disruption and execute on our growth strategy.”

“The tax terrain is becoming increasingly complex. Our growth signals the market’s ongoing need for solutions that address tax burdens as well as anticipate future challenges,” Tyler Horton, managing director and leader of A&M U.S. federal, state and local and sales and use tax, international tax, transfer pricing, digital tax services and private client services, said. “In addition to aligning with A&M’s operational heritage and results-driven mindset, our new senior leaders advance our ability to serve as strategic advisors.”
