Barclays Appoints Voegeli Head of Investment Banking for Canada

Barclays appointed Ryan Voegeli head of investment banking for Canada. Voegeli will be based in Toronto.

Voegeli has 20 years of investment banking experience and joined Barclays from CIBC Capital Markets, where he was head of global diversified industries investment banking. In this role, he led a team spanning Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg and Vancouver in Canada and Chicago and San Francisco in the U.S.

Prior to joining CIBC in 2011, Voegeli was head of Canadian telecommunications, media and technology investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Throughout his career, Voegeli has performed in roles in multiple transactions, including advising the special committee of Shaw Communications in connection with its $26 billion sale to Rogers Communications and advising Shaw Communications on its $1.6 billion acquisition of Wind Mobile. He advised George Weston Limited in connection with its sale of Weston Foods and Loblaw in connection with its $845 million acquisition of Lifemark Health Group, as well as on the $460 million initial public offering (IPO) of Choice Properties out of Loblaw. Voegeli also advised TELUS on its $2.9 billion acquisition of Lifeworks and GFL on its $5.125 billion recapitalization led by BC Partners and OTPP. He has experience in initial public offerings, having advised as joint bookrunner on the $1.4 billion IPO of TELUS International, the $531 million IPO of Ceridian, the $460 million IPO of Aritzia and the $380 million IPO of Hudson’s Bay Company.
