Rita Garwood was promoted from editor of Monitor to the position of managing editor, responsible for both the Monitor and ABF Journal brand print, digital, e-news and online properties, effective immediately.

Garwood will report directly to Jerry Parrotto, president of Xander Media Group (XMG) and executive editor of the Monitor and ABF Journal trade publications and related properties.

“Rita has exceeded my expectations in just about every aspect of our content delivery systems across all Monitor product lines since her appointment as editor of the Monitor last year,” said Parrotto. “And as we migrate to a more robust ABF Journal website, I fully expect, under Rita’s tutelage, we will realize similar gains in audience activity, participation and engagement in the world of asset-based lending, factoring and other special lending verticals.”

Prior to joining XMG in 2012, Garwood was a freelance writer while working in a fast-paced law office as manager and paralegal. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of arts in English and professional writing. She was the recipient of a dean’s scholarship (Drexel University) and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
