Yasmin Carey
ABL Business Development Officer
JPMorgan Chase

During her career, Yasmin Carey has learned firsthand that setbacks are inevitable. She has had deals fall apart at closing and at times been passed over for leadership opportunities. Her resilience in the face of such setbacks has helped her navigate her toward success, as she has an innate ability to bounce back, learn from failures and keep moving forward with a positive and determined mindset.

Carey is an executive director in J.P. Morgan’s asset-based lending group, covering the firm’s innovation economy clients and prospects in the western U.S. Prior to J.P. Morgan, Carey spent 10 years at Wells Fargo Capital Finance after working as an investment banking analyst at UBS in the large cap oil and gas group.

During her time at J.P. Morgan, Carey has focused exclusively on high-growth, high-potential businesses in the technology and consumer sectors, a market that does not fit into the traditional asset-based lending box. “It’s been exhilarating to find new ways to support these clients as they grow,” Carey says.

Understanding and meeting clients’ needs is at the core of what Carey and her J.P. Morgan colleagues do every day. “A client-centric approach fosters loyalty and drives sustainable growth,” Carey says.

Carey also believes mentorship is vital, saying that a good mentor can provide advice, share their experiences and offer valuable insight. She advises any professional to find a good mentor who can serve as a source of guidance, support and inspiration. In addition, knowing that confidence is key, she urges others to believe in their abilities and never be afraid to speak up and share their ideas, even as a junior person in the room.

Carey is still focused on improving her own skills, looking at every new deal as another opportunity, whether in her approach with a prospective client or to managing a deal team internally.
