Tamika Morris
Commercial Manager & SVP, Business Credit – ABL
First Horizon Bank

As an operations manager in the asset-based lending industry, Tamika Morris’ impact is significant and far reaching. She is passionate about driving operational efficiency, managing risk and fostering strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Morris’ role at First Horizon Bank involves overseeing the day-today operations of the business credit department — specifically its ABL operations — ensuring smooth and efficient processes and ultimately contributing to the success of the organization. Some additional key functions and responsibilities of her role include streamlining operations, mitigating risk, developing teams and building relationships.

Morris has worked in banking for more than 23 years, spending the last seven in asset-based lending. Over the years, she has worked in loan closing and administration, commercial documentation management, syndication loan management, and closing and compliance. Throughout her career, Morris has had the opportunity to work in various banking areas, allowing her to develop a well-rounded understanding of banking operations.

Thanks to her varied experiences, Morris has developed many key skills within the banking industry, including effective communication, adaptability and flexibility. Notably, Morris also has developed a change mindset due to the banking industry’s dynamic structure. She put herself in this mindset by recognizing that the global economy is constantly evolving, knowing that anyone who doesn’t grow with it will be left behind.

In the future, Morris would like to drive process automation critical for operational efficiency. This requires expanding her knowledge and learning more about API capabilities and what tasks bot technology can complete. Another of Morris’ professional goals is to offer more of her time to First Horizon’s mentorship program.

“I gained so much from my mentors, and I appreciated the time they would make for me,” Morris says. “I want to offer that same safe space and help other associates with their development.”
