Morrison Cohen added two attorneys to its business team, including one former staffer.

The firm reunited with Steven Weitzen, who will serve as of counsel. In this role, Weitzen will advise public and private companies, financial institutions, investment banks and investors in finance, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital transactions and securities and commercial matters.

Weitzen is an experienced corporate and transactions attorney in private practice and as an in-house general counsel. Weitzen rejoined Morrison Cohen after a stint at Pavia & Harcourt.

“Steven adds further depth to the firm’s practices,” said Bruce P. Levine, co-chair of the Commercial Lending and Finance group. “In addition to his general corporate experience, he has represented a number of lenders and borrowers throughout his career, with an emphasis on asset-based lending and mezzanine financing. Steve’s practice also includes a middle-market focus, which is an ideal fit for Morrison Cohen.”

Morrison Cohen also added Michael Mix to its Business Litigation Department. Mix joined from Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle.

“We continue to be successful in attracting the absolute top talent as they are drawn to our model, culture and commercial approach to our practice,” said David Scherl, Morrison Cohen chairman.
