The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that total nonfarm employment in March increased by 303,000, with the unemployment rate remaining flat at 3.8% and the healthcare, government, leisure and hospitality, and construction sectors experiencing the most notable job gains.

According to the report, March’s increase outpaced the average of the previous 12 months (231,000). While there were job gains in healthcare (72,000), government (71,000), construction (39,000), leisure and hospitality (49,000), other services (16,000) and social assistance (9,000) , job growth was relatively unchanged in industries such as mining, oil and gas, transportation and warehousing, financial activities, manufacturing, and professional and business services.
