Ankura Consulting appointed Jay D. Squiers as a managing director in its turnaround and restructuring group.

Squiers has been an investment professional for more than 30 years and his experience comprises lead investor roles in both consensual restructurings and bankruptcies in financial institutions and securities organizations. He has specialized in energy industry issues, ranging from exploration and production, to midstream and refining, to power generation and distribution.

Before joining Ankura, Squiers was managing director and chief financial officer of Petro Capital Energy Funds, a Dallas-based private equity and credit investment group.

Squiers’ experience includes prior roles as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of CSG Investments, an affiliate of the Beal Banks; a managing director in the Special Opportunities Fund of Fortress Investment Group and a senior vice president at Prudential Capital Group. Squiers began his professional career as a corporate securities associate at Dallas-based Hughes & Luce.

“Jay has firsthand experience of practically all stakeholder roles in the turnaround industry, including a commercial bank, a private equity fund, a hedge fund, an insurance company investment group, and an equipment finance group. In addition, he has served as a director of public companies. Jay has a broad skill set and deep experience in a wide range of capital and private markets,” Ankura Co-President Kevin Lavin said. “During his career, he has served in both COO and CFO roles and possesses hands-on experience with multiple regulatory schemes. His broad professional background, his experience in portfolio management and his energy industry expertise are strong additions to Ankura’s well-known turnaround and restructuring expertise.”
