Turnaround firm SierraConstellation Partners has appointed Basil Karampelas as head of the firm’s Houston office.

“Basil has seen turnarounds from every possible angle throughout his career, from serving as an adviser, to coming in as a CFO and CEO to usher companies through difficult times of change,” said SCP Founder and CEO Larry Perkins. “His experience is particularly strong in the financial aspects of restructuring, which we are finding an increasing demand for among our clients. I am confident Basil will do an excellent job in continuing to grow our presence in Houston.”

Before joining SCP earlier this year, Karampelas spent nearly three decades in a variety of senior financial, operational, and advisory roles. Most recently, Karampelas served as a managing director for a national advisory firm, leading the firm’s restructuring practice for the natural resource, chemical and renewable industries. He has also served as the president and head of Origination for American Process; as an operating partner at Plainfeld Asset Management, where he served in interim C-suite positions at the firm’s portfolio companies; and as a managing director at BP Energy Financial Services, where he co-founded and led BP’s US merchant banking operation. Earlier in his career, he honed his skills at the world-class advisory firms Salomon Brothers and Wasserstein Perella.
