Structured finance lawyer Richard Hanson has joined Orrick as a partner based in London. He joins from Ropes & Gray.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Rick and continue to expand our London office with rising stars who support our global focus in the finance, tech and energy & infrastructure sectors,” said Simon Willis, Orrick’s London office leader.

Hanson advises on structured finance, securitisation and derivatives-based financings for funds, asset managers and investment trusts. His experience includes advising on funding structures backed by commercial real estate and other asset classes, including loan-on-loan and repo financing; CMBS; loan repackagings; performing and non-performing loan portfolios acquired or disposed of using securitisation technology; and interest rate, FX and securitisation hedging matters.

Hanson’s arrival follows several recent additions to Orrick’s London office. Corporate advisor Ed Lukins joined the firm from Cooley. Last month, Orrick added Hannah Roscoe, formerly with Herbert Smith Freehills, as a partner in its London E&I practice, and in May added Jonathan Rosen, formerly with Akin Gump, as a partner in its London Tax practice. This follows the arrivals of James Connor and Daniel Wayte as partners in Orrick’s M&A and Private Equity Group last year.
