Alvarez & Marsal Taxand said it is expanding its presence in the Midwestern U.S. with the addition of tax advisory veteran Daniel F. Rahill, who joins as a managing director. Based in Chicago, Rahill will continue building the firm’s tax practice in the city and region while serving multinational clients seeking world-class tax advisory services.

Previously, Rahill was a partner with KPMG for 21 years, where he served as partner-in-charge, Tax, Chicago Metro Business Unit, trustee of the KPMG Foundation, and Global Lead Partner on many of KPMG’s most prestigious accounts. Before joining Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, he was partner-in-charge of Tax Services at FGMK, working with closely held public and individual clients.

With more than 30 years of dedicated experience, Rahill brings a wealth of knowledge in business process redesign, business development, strategic planning, and financial modeling and budgeting across a variety of industries and entities. His expertise includes tax advisory, structuring and compliance services; tax outsourcing services; negotiation and transaction management in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; tax provision and accounting services for multinational entities; and personal financial planning. His industry expertise spans consumer and industrial products, alternative investment funds, professional services and family offices.

Rahill serves on the Illinois CPA Society Board of Directors as its immediate past chairman, as well as the chair of the Illinois CPA Society Endowment Fund. In addition to the Illinois CPA Society Board, Rahill is involved in numerous professional and civic organizations, including: American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Illinois Representative, AICPA Council; University of Notre Dame, Advisory Board, Department of Accountancy; University of Illinois, Advisory Board, Department of Accountancy; The Economic Club of Chicago, Chairman, Membership Committee for Accountants and Consultants; and Metropolitan Family Services of Chicago, Vice Chair, Finance Committee.
