Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) expanded its construction disputes offering with the appointment of disputes and investigations (DI) practice managing directors Mike Hostettler, based in Los Angeles, and Augusto Patmore, based in Toronto. Hostettler’s and Patmore’s extensive and wide-ranging construction, engineering and real estate development disputes and investigations expertise underscores the firm’s commitment to law firm, real estate, engineering and construction and infrastructure firm clients seeking to mitigate risk and capitalize on opportunities.

Leveraging their more than six decades of experience, the new managing directors advise clients on construction and engineering disputes and provide varied and comprehensive expert testimony in construction and real estate litigation and arbitration. Their sector engagements solve for a wide range of operational matters spanning public works, commercial, multi-residential and industrial developments, energy, high-tech and heavy industrial manufacturing, mining, transportation, health care and environmental remediation. Cost and claims assessments, forensic investigations, process and risk review, program management, standard of care, construction methods and techniques, delay and quantum calculations and productivity are among their specific core competencies.

“Mike and Augusto represent the next phase of DI’s growth,” Jerry Dent, managing director and North America practice leader of A&M’s disputes and investigations practice, said. “Their appointments further A&M’s ability to maximize value for clients while mitigating risk. The addition of Mike and Augusto underlines DI’s strategic commitment to deepening specific expertise in the construction and real estate markets. These new colleagues share our operational and results-driven approach for meeting the market’s needs amidst regulatory change and economic disruption.”

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Hostetler spent 12 years with Deloitte in the risk and financial advisory practice where he most recently served as managing director and a global leader for the infrastructure and capital projects practice.

Prior to joining A&M, Patmore spent 10 years as a partner with KPMG’s Global Infrastructure practice in Toronto, most recently as major project advisory (MPA) leader, and leader of mining infrastructure. (Ossa) and a project director, and area manager for various highway P3 projects with Ferrovial in Canada, and in Ireland.

“Mike’s and Augusto’s joining expands our bench strength, and furthers our ability to harness the firm’s heritage of operational excellence to its commitment of driving change for clients,” Riz Shah, managing director and national leader of an A&M’s infrastructure & capital projects practice, said. “Their appointments align with our team’s construction experience and will enhance collaborative opportunities across sectors and geographies to help clients maximize value.”
