Abacus Finance Group, a provider of cash flow-based, classic senior debt for sponsor-led buyouts of lower middle-market companies, served as senior secured credit facilities administrative agent and lead arranger for senior secured credit facilities to support the leveraged buyout of Marshall & Stevens by Pine Tree Equity Partners.

Founded in 1932, Marshall & Stevens is a provider of independent valuation and advisory services to middle market companies. Pine Tree Equity, based in Miami, FL, is a private equity firm focused on the investment in and expansion of small capitalization companies.

“We were impressed by the Abacus team’s speed of execution and ease of documentation. They were responsive, flexible, easy to work with, and able to provide certainty of closure early,” Roberto J. Canto, managing director of Pine Tree Equity, said.

“This was our first transaction with Pine Tree, and they were both very efficient to work with and relationship-oriented,” Tim Clifford, president and CEO of Abacus, said. “All in all, I believe they feel they can Count on Us given the importance they attach to speed and the certainty of close – two key aspects of our Total Partnership Approach.”

“The Pine Tree team was very thoughtful in its underwriting approach, making it a real pleasure to work with them,” Eric Petersen, managing director of Abacus, said.

Abacus team members involved in the transaction included Eric Petersen and Austin Rendell. Legal counsel was provided to Abacus by Goulston & Storrs.
