The American Bankruptcy Institute announced that it will cancel its annual spring meeting. The meeting was scheduled for April 23-25 in Washington, D.C.

“It is with great sadness that I must announce that ABI is canceling its Annual Spring Meeting, which was to be held April 23-25 in Washington, D.C. Conditions have worsened exponentially in the U.S. in the last week. The WHO has declared the coronavirus a pandemic, the United States has declared a national emergency, travel has been restricted and states have shut down schools and restaurants and banned mass gatherings” Amy Alcoke Quackenboss, executive director of the American Bankruptcy Institute, wrote in an email. “We know this conference is meaningful to so many of you, and of course, it is very special to ABI, but the safety of our attendees and our concern for the global community is our highest priority.”

Quackenboss wrote that the ABI is exploring potential new dates for the meeting as well as the impact on other scheduled conferences.
