Law firm Clifford Chance hired Brian J. Lohan and Maja Zerjal Fink as U.S. partners for its global restructuring and insolvency team in New York. Lohan and Zerjal Fink both joined from Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer. Their practice covers all aspects of corporate reorganizations, distressed situations and bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings for U.S. domestic and international clients.

“We are delighted to welcome this dynamic team with such impressive experience covering the full range of restructuring and bankruptcy matters,” Sharis Pozen, regional managing partner for the Americas at Clifford Chance, said. “The addition of Brian and Maja is further proof that we remain fully focused on the needs of our clients and on building the best team in the market.”

“Brian and Maja will enhance our ability to provide clients with seamless service across our global network, particularly when faced with complex, multi-jurisdictional restructuring and insolvency proceedings,” Philip Hertz, global head of restructuring and insolvency at Clifford Chance, said. “We’re very excited to have them as part of the team.”

Lohan and Zerjal Fink have represented Chapter 11 bankruptcy debtors, noteholders, bondholders, senior lenders, official creditor committees and other creditor constituencies or interested parties in domestic and cross-border matters. Examples of their recent work include acting for the senior secured lenders and debtor-in-possession lenders for Cineworld and Hertz.

Lohan, who joined Clifford Chance from Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer, has advised Chapter 11 bankruptcy debtors, including IronNet, Dynegy Holdings and Smurfit Stone Container Corporation, as well as senior creditors and/or DIP lenders for Zohar, Dura Automotive and MD Helicopters.

Zerjal Fink’s work on high-profile restructurings includes Puerto Rico, Caesars Entertainment Operating Corporation and MF Global. She also advises private equity sponsors, debtors, foreign debtors and representatives, lenders, creditors and equity holders in bankruptcy proceedings and in-court and out-of-court restructurings.

“Maja and I are excited to join Clifford Chance’s elite global platform,” Lohan said. “We look forward to contributing our experience to this leading restructuring and insolvency practice and working alongside other practices to support clients around the world.”
