Alvarez & Marsal Taxand (A&M Taxand), an affiliate of global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), appointed Eric Mussler, Kristy Ton and Christopher Datino as managing directors. These additions underscore A&M’s strategy to evolve with its expanding client base of large corporates and solve for their unique challenges and complexities.

Collectively, Mussler, Ton and Datino bring several decades of large corporate experience, as well as expertise serving private equity, government and professional services. Their joining represents the next phase of A&M Taxand’s strategic plan to expand its offerings for addressing clients’ rapidly evolving and increasingly complex tax requirements.

“A&M Taxand is laser-focused on supporting clients through the various stages of the organizational lifecycle and the ongoing global and domestic tax complexities,” Ernie Perez, global practice leader of A&M Taxand, said. “Our double-digit year-over-year growth reflects our progressive capability to serve companies throughout times of change and volatility. Kristy, Eric and Chris add to our bench strength of flexible, dynamic A&M Taxand advisors who work in partnership with our clients.”

Mussler, based in Raleigh, NC, has extensive experience advising large corporate, multi-state clients on various state and local tax matters, with an emphasis on restructuring and M&A. He focuses on corporate income, franchise and sales and use tax, FIN-48 provision, due diligence, restructuring, controversy services, data robotic automation systems, refunds and credits/incentives. Prior to joining A&M, Mussler held leadership roles with accounting firms and government, including the North Carolina Department of Revenue.

Ton, based in Houston, provides tax consulting and planning services to large and complex multinational corporations. As A&M’s newest international tax managing director, she will develop and implement comprehensive global tax restructuring and planning, including repatriation, cross-border merger and acquisitions, consolidation and integration transactions, financing/debt restructuring and supply chain/business model optimization. Prior to joining A&M, Ton was a partner in the international tax and transaction services practice at EY.

Datino, based in New York, specializes in U.S. domestic tax services related to strategic M&A, compliance, consulting and controversy. At A&M, he will work with clients across multiple sectors and advise on tax matters, primarily for private equity portfolio companies. Prior to joining A&M, Datino served as managing director for KPMG’s business tax services, advising privately held companies and their owners. He also served as a senior leader in that firm’s internal tax group as well as a manager in the tax department of a publicly traded company.

“Our clients require advisors with broad-based tax knowledge spanning multiple industries and geographies,” Tyler Horton, managing director and U.S. leader of A&M’s core tax services, said. “Eric’s and Kristy’s experience furthers our ability to serve large corporates facing increasingly complex and interrelated U.S. and international tax issues. Christopher’s knowledge of portfolio companies demonstrates our commitment to this critical client base. They all understand the range of tax challenges facing clients and enhance our ability to provide bespoke solutions.”
