Paul Hastings announced the firm was recognized by Global Competition Review , an antitrust and competition news publication, for its work in the US Airways/American Airlines merger.
Bloomberg reported AMR, the parent company of American Airlines, said in a court filing, that waiting to resolve the government’s antitrust case to block AMR’s merger with US Airways would be “destabilizing.”
Bloomberg reported that US Airways and American Airlines will not know if their $11 billion merger will pass U.S. antitrust review prior to the August court hearing regarding American’s reorganization plan.
Bloomberg reported that US Airways lowered the rate on $1.6 billion of term loan debt it’s seeking to refinance. Citi, Barclays, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs were said to be arranging the deal.
American Airlines agreed to merge with smaller rival US Airways in a deal valued at $11 billion, paving the way for the creation of the nation’s largest airline.
