VSS Capital Partners, a private investment firm investing in the healthcare, education and business services industries, hired David Fann as senior managing director and head of investor relations. Fann brings vast experience, having held executive leadership roles in private market firms that have invested over $50 billion in private equity and private credit for institutional investors. He joins VSS from Apogem Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary of New York Life Investment Management, where he was a vice chairman.
“We have known David Fann for many years and extend a warm welcome to him. We are thrilled to have his expertise building out existing client relationships going forward to pursue meaningful growth opportunities we’re seeing for our firm,” Jeffrey Stevenson, managing partner at VSS, said. “Globally, institutional investors are seeking attractive yield and greater diversification in a continued uncertain market environment. Additionally, over the past years we’ve seen growing interest in Structured Capital solutions as well as Limited Partners’ interest in building out exposure to the U.S. marketplace.”
Fann will oversee investor relations and fundraising for VSS, bringing his broad institutional relationships across global regions, experience in private equity transactions and different private markets strategies and in-depth familiarity with sophisticated investors of all types to the firm.
“David’s private markets experience and institutional investor network will be an invaluable asset to VSS as we look to capitalize on next market opportunities,” Patrick Turner, managing director at VSS, said. “Our paths have crossed many times, and we are thrilled to have David lend his expertise to lead our firm’s investor relations.”
“I am delighted to join this experienced team and look forward to bringing my industry know how and relationships to bear at a time when investors are seeking to benefit from strategies that support longer term strategic growth and value creation opportunities,” Fann said. “With an exceptional track record investing structured capital for years and continued global demand in the market for flexible financing solutions, I am excited about VSS’s growth opportunities ahead.”
Fann holds a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in industrial engineering and economics from Stanford University. He serves on the advisory boards of the Robert Toigo Foundation and the Association of Asian American Investment Managers.
