According to The Wall Street Journal, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group and Shinsei Bank are the last two bidders in the running for GE’s roughly $5 billion Japanese commercial finance unit.

The Journal reported that GE will opt to continue negotiations with both parties rather than select a “preferred bidder.”

Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group closed the purchase of GE’s European sponsor finance business for approximately $2.1 billion in September.
