As part of the M&A Advisor’s 40 Under 40 M&A Advisor Recognition Awards, Salus Capital’s Kyle C. Shonak was named a winner for the Dealmaker Category.

Shonak is a senior vice president, manager of Special Opportunities at Salus Capital Partners. Shonak focuses on recognizing and mitigating risks associated with deals being restructured, in bankruptcy, or are criticized assets while identifying and reacting to the needs of the borrowers.

Prior to joining Salus, Shonak was a vice president, Special Assets, at Textron Financial where he was the officer in charge of developing legal and business strategy in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, receivership and out-of-court restructurings, as well as acquisitions and strategic partnerships.

Prior to Textron, Shonak held positions in underwriting at TD Bank and UPS Capital. He also previously owned and managed two family businesses, PFXC, LLC dba Alibis and Celtic Pub. He holds a B.B.A in finance from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

The M&A Advisor created this event to promote mentorship and professional development amongst the emerging business leaders.

Shonak was chosen for his accomplishments and expertise from a pool of international nominees by an independent judging panel of distinguished business leaders.

“Receiving this prestigious award is certainly humbling. We are only as good as the team we work with and the organization that supports us,” said Shonak. “I am so very fortunate to work with a team of bright, creative and highly skilled professionals where we all have the privilege of working for an incredible Company and an experienced leader in Andy Moser.”

On October 1, the M&A Advisor will host a black tie Awards Gala at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan, in conjunction with the 2013 Emerging Leaders’ Summit — an exclusive event pairing 40 Under 40winners together with their mentors and other stalwarts, to introduce the 40 Under 40 Award Winners to the business community and celebrate their achievements.

“In 2010 we initiated the 40 Under 40 Awards to recognize the emerging leaders of the M&A, financing and turnaround industries,” said David Fergusson, president of The M&A Advisor. “It is our belief that this group of accomplished women and men will have a significant effect on the advancement of our industry. And it is our great pleasure to recognize them and provide a forum for them to meet and engage with one another.”
