Salus Capital announced four new hires.

Kyle C. Shonak joined as senior vice president, Special Opportunities responsible for recognizing, managing and mitigating risk associated with restructuring opportunities and turnarounds; situations involving bankruptcy or criticized assets. Prior to joining Salus, he was a vice president, Special Assets at Textron Financial where he was the officer in charge of developing legal and business strategy in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, receivership and out-of-court restructurings, as well as acquisitions and strategic partnerships. Shonak holds a B.B.A in Finance from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

Maureen E. Gibbons joined as vice president, controller responsible for recording day-to-day financial transactions, financial reporting and audit coordination. Prior to joining Salus, Gibbons was an accountant at the Perkins School for the Blind where she was responsible for budgeting and collecting tuition, grant and gift revenue as well as tracking endowment investments held by outside managers. She is a C.P.A. and a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Gibbons holds a B.S. in Accounting from Providence College.

James P. Poulos joined as senior vice president, director of Field Exam and Risk Management responsible for risk assessment and all field examinations performed on behalf of Salus Capital. Prior to joining Salus, Poulos was a senior vice president, director Commercial Field Support at Sovereign Bank where he was responsible for all aspects of Auto Finance Audits and Field Examinations performed on behalf of the Bank. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from New York University.

Matthew T. O’Rourke joined as vice president, portfolio manager responsible for managing borrower relationships; while identifying and reacting to ongoing needs of borrowers and matters pertaining to risk and covenant compliance. Prior to joining Salus, O’Rourke was an assistant vice president at People’s United Bank, where he was responsible for originating, underwriting and managing a portfolio of middle-market commercial lending accounts. He holds a B.S. from Bryant University.
