Northleaf Capital Partners, a global private markets investment firm, appointed Michael Hyatt a senior advisor to support its venture capital and growth equity investment program. Hyatt will work alongside the Northleaf private equity and venture capital team to source and evaluate investment opportunities.

“We are excited to welcome Michael to Northleaf as a senior advisor,” Ian Carew, managing director and venture partner at Northleaf Capital Partners, said. “We have invested successfully with Michael in the past and our venture capital and growth equity program will benefit from his deep knowledge and experience and accomplished track record as both an entrepreneur and investor.”

“I am thrilled to act as a senior advisor to Northleaf’s successful venture capital and growth equity program and look forward to working with Ian and the team,” Hyatt said. “I’ve had the opportunity to see the Northleaf strategy at work over the years and I’m excited to collaborate with the team on future investments for the program.”

Hyatt is the co-founder of BlueCat (in which Northleaf was an early investor and which was acquired by a private equity firm in 2017) and previously co-founded Dyadem (a software company that was sold to IHS in 2011). He currently serves as a director of BlueCat. Hyatt is a regular business commentator on the CBC and the host of Unplanned Business, a podcast to help small businesses. He is a founding partner at the Rotman School of Management’s Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) and chairs the Hyatt Family Foundation focused on women’s health, critical hospital research and sponsorship of underprivileged minority communities.
