Monroe Capital LLC announced that Theodore L. Koenig, president and chief executive officer, was named the 2012 Middle Market Thought Leader of the Year by The Alliance of Mergers & Acquisition Advisors (AM&AA) and Grant Thornton.

The Middle Market Thought Leader Award recognizes individuals in the mergers and acquisitions profession who create and advocate ideas that are transformative for the industry.

Koenig received the award because of his leadership contributions in 2012 relating to unitranche debt financing and the effect it has had on the M&A market and how it has enabled private equity sponsors and borrowers to complete transactions in today’s environment. “This year’s winner, Ted Koenig, has made an enormous impact in the middle market M&A community through his comprehensive examination of this new alternative for financing acquisitions of mid-sized companies,” said Steve Brady, a partner in Grant Thornton’s Transaction Advisory Services practice and a member of this year’s selection committee.

“I am very honored to have been selected as the Middle Market Thought Leader of the Year by the AM&AA and Grant Thornton. This award reflects the hard work of our professionals over the past year as we have broadened our financing capabilities to provide our clients with the fullest range of innovative, seamless capital structure options available for private equity sponsors and small to middle market companies,” said Koenig. “We look forward to continue meeting the complete financing needs.”
