England & Company, a Washington, DC-based middle-market merchant bank, announced that Craig MacKay has joined the firm as a partner, managing director and head of its newly established New York office.

MacKay will be responsible for expanding England Securities’ efforts to raise growth capital for private companies in selected industries, including Energy & Infrastructure Technology, Financial Services, Healthcare, and Information Technology & Business Services.

“The importance of the private capital markets has grown exponentially as the middle-market has been effectively shut out of the public markets,” said Craig England, CEO of England & Company. “Craig MacKay brings a wealth of experience working with a broad cross-section of fund managers, institutional investors and financial institutions in raising growth capital for private companies.”

MacKay previously served as a managing director and head of private finance at Oppenheimer & Co. (formerly CIBC World Markets). Prior to Oppenheimer, he was a managing director and head of private finance at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey and was the founder and managing member of HNY Associates.
