Robert Profusek, leader of Jones Day’s global M&A Practice, received the 2015 Leadership Award at The M&A Advisor’s 7th Annual International M&A Awards. Profusek was chosen in recognition of his contribution to, and accomplishments in, legal advisory services in the area of mergers and acquisitions.

Profusek advises substantial publicly, and privately held businesses on M&A, including takeovers and buyouts; restructurings; and corporate governance matters. He has led the Firm’s deal teams on hundreds of transactions over the years, including, among many others, Nextel’s $46.5 billion merger-of-equals with Sprint, Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan’s successful defense against BHP Billiton’s $43.1 billion unsolicited takeover proposal, Ernst & Young’s $11.7 billion sale of its management consulting business to Cap Gemini, Continental Airlines’ $8.5 billion merger with United Airlines, and Procter & Gamble’s $4.7 billion disposition of its Duracell business to Berkshire Hathaway.

Profusek serves as lead independent director of two NYSE-listed companies and has testified before Congress and the SEC about takeover and compensation-related matters. He also is a frequent speaker regarding corporate takeovers and corporate governance; has authored numerous articles, including as a recurring contributor to The Wall Street Journal’s The Experts blog; and is a regular on-air guest commentator for CNBC, Fox Business and Bloomberg TV.
