The global law firm Jones Day added Christine Van Gallebaert as a partner to the firm’s Banking & Finance practice in its Paris Office.

Van Gallebaert has extensive experience serving the Paris market in asset-backed financings, which include securitization, covered bonds and debt funds.

“Christine and her team bring us significant securitization and debt funds experience which will enhance our strong transactions capabilities in Paris and throughout Europe,” said Sophie Hagège, partner-in-charge of Jones Day’s Paris Office. “In particular, we anticipate great synergies with our Banking & Finance, notably in derivatives, leveraged and acquisition, regulatory, fund formation and Capital Markets teams.”

Van Gallebaert has assisted clients in the formation of a number of covered bond issuers for both French and multinational banking groups, and in the securitization process of various financial assets. She has counseled debt funds investing in small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) loans and in emergent crowd-lending platforms.

Van Gallebaert also set up the first French debt fund authorized as a “European Long Term Investment Fund” by the French Market Authority for the purpose of granting loans directly to French SMEs. More recently, she advised on the restructuring of several covered bonds issuers. Van Gallebaert is recognized among the best securitization lawyers in France by Chambers Global, Chambers Europe and The Legal 500 EMEA guides.

Also joining the Banking and Finance practice in Paris are associates David Aumain and Bassem Caradec.

Aumain and Caradec also have extensive experience in securitization transactions, including debt funds investing in SME loans and infrastructures projects, and have worked with bank debt portfolio assignments.
