Wells Fargo Securities announced that Mark Jones has been named head of Wells Fargo Securities Asia. In this newly created position based in Hong Kong, Jones is responsible for overseeing investment banking and capital markets activities, including advisory services and sales and trading, for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

He reports jointly to the co-heads of Wells Fargo Securities’ Markets Division and the co-heads of the Investment Banking and Capital Markets group in the U.S.

“Mark brings a wealth of knowledge and deep client relationships to the Wells Fargo Securities platform,” said John Shrewsberry, head of Wells Fargo Securities in San Francisco. “His appointment strengthens our ability to serve our clients’ global financial needs and adds a strong senior leadership presence to our team in Asia.”

Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Jones was head of sales for the Fixed Income, Commodities and Currencies group (FICC) of UBS in the Asia Pacific region. He joined UBS in 2004, holding a number of executive positions during his tenure, including head of FICC Sales in Europe, managing director and head of European Structured Product Sales, and head of Solution Sales in the United Kingdom.

Jones began his career in banking at Deutsche Bank and also worked at Barclays Capital.
