JMP Group, an investment banking and alternative asset management firm, named Gavin Slader head of mergers and acquisitions at JMP Securities. As managing director based in the firm’s San Francisco headquarters, Slader was previously head of technology mergers and acquisitions. He continues to sit on JMP Securities’ investment banking management committee.

“Gavin’s new title reflects his integral role in the dramatic growth of JMP’s M&A business in recent years,” said Carter Mack, president of JMP Group. “Since arriving at JMP in 2013, Gavin has provided insight to other bankers in all four of our industry verticals, and his guidance contributed significantly to the firm’s record strategic advisory revenues in 2016. We remain focused on expanding our M&A practice and are confident that we will do so with Gavin’s leadership.”

Prior to joining JMP Securities, Slader was a senior banker in the technology, media and telecommunications investment banking group at UBS Investment Bank, sharing oversight of the West Coast technology mergers and acquisitions practice. He previously held investment banking positions at Credit Suisse First Boston and its predecessor, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, concentrating on technology mergers and acquisitions throughout. Slader began his Wall Street career in Deutsche Bank’s leveraged finance group.
