Irving Place Capital announced that it has appointed C. Thomas O’Grady and Michael A. McLain as senior advisors for the firm’s industrial practice. O’Grady and McLain will work closely with Irving Place Capital to identify, evaluate and pursue new investments in branded industrial products companies and to build value within such companies.

Prior to joining Irving Place Capital, O’Grady served as senior vice president, Business Development at Cooper Industries plc, a position he held since 2005. He joined Cooper from Roper Industries, Inc. where he served as vice president, Mergers and Acquisitions. At both Cooper and Roper, O’Grady played instrumental roles developing transformative and value-enhancing acquisition strategies. He currently serves as a Director of Thermadyne Holdings Corporation, an Irving Place Capital portfolio company.

McLain has worked with Irving Place Capital in various partnership capacities since 2004. He was previously the CEO of Aearo Technologies Inc., a manufacturer of safety equipment for industrial and consumer markets. During his tenure with Aearo from 1998 to 2008, McLain helped drive more than $1 billion of value creation for three private equity firms before selling the company to 3M Company. Prior to Aearo, he spent more than 25 years working for branded consumer products companies, including as president and CEO of DowBrands, Inc. McLain currently serves as chairman of the board of Thermadyne, where he has had a significant impact on the strategy and trajectory of the company. He is also a director of PlayCore Holdings, Inc., Porex Corporation and Timex Corporation.
