Conway MacKenzie said it has appointed Matt Covington as managing director and head of the Los Angeles office. Covington has a proven track record of providing a full range of corporate restructuring, crisis management and turnaround consulting services for underperforming and financially troubled companies in the middle market, the company said.

Before joining Conway MacKenzie, Covington was a managing director and head of the restructuring group for Kibel Green, and a senior vice president in Duff & Phelps’ restructuring group.

“We are delighted to welcome Matt to Conway MacKenzie,” said Van E. Conway, chief executive officer of Conway MacKenzie. “He brings a unique combination of restructuring acumen and transactional experience to our firm. Matt understands the challenges middle-market companies face and is able to develop and implement creative, intelligent solutions to meet them. Additionally, his experience working with creditors and financial sponsors will be of great value to our clients and will contribute significantly to our west coast restructuring practice.”

Covington has more than a dozen years of experience advising debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, equity holders, and financial sponsors across a wide variety of industries, including aerospace/defense, airlines, energy, food processing, forest products, gaming and hospitality, lodging, manufacturing, real estate, retail, telecommunications and transportation.

“I am very excited about joining the Conway MacKenzie team,” Covington said. “They are one of the perennial standouts in the industry. I have always been impressed by their relentless focus on improving outcomes for their clients, their entrepreneurial spirit and the firm’s overall high degree of professionalism. I consider it the highest honor to have the opportunity to work alongside an absolutely first-rate team while providing a much-needed service to middle market companies.”
